Insight Mechanical has been installing and repairing heating, cooling and water heater systems for Santa Fe homes and businesses for over twenty years. We are local and family-owned, licensed and insured, and we work out of a shop on Academy Road that has never had to pretend the town is anywhere else.
How we got here
Twenty years of fitting equipment to Santa Fe, not to a catalogue.
Since 2007, this has been a shop that measures the house before it opens a spec sheet. Two things decide almost every job we run: the elevation and the walls. Santa Fe sits at roughly seven thousand feet, and air that thin carries less heat per cubic foot than the air a furnace or a condenser was rated for at sea level. Equipment sized off a chart written for lower ground shows up already behind. It runs longer to do the same work and it wears out sooner. That is a sizing problem, and it is a quiet one, because nothing about it looks wrong on the invoice. Getting it right the first time is most of what twenty years in this trade actually teaches you.
Then there is the building itself. A lot of Santa Fe is adobe and pueblo revival construction, walls built solid rather than framed around a stud bay, with nowhere for a duct run to hide without cutting into plaster that took a season to lay by hand. That is a large part of why ductless systems took hold here long before they were fashionable anywhere else, and why placing an outdoor unit so it reads right from a Santa Fe street, clear of a parapet line and clear of a design review, is part of the job rather than an afterthought.
We are still a small outfit. The office runs Monday through Friday, estimates happen in person because a phone call cannot tell you what a wall is made of, and the same names come up in our reviews year after year because the same people keep showing up to the job. That is the whole model. It has not needed to get more complicated than that.

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed Saturday and Sunday, and we do not run a weekend or after-hours line, so we would rather say that plainly than let you find out on a Sunday night. We work across Santa Fe County and Los Alamos County, and estimates are always in person, scheduled within two business days of your call.
