We size commercial equipment for the elevation it's actually going to run at, which is the difference between a unit that meets its numbers and one that never quite does no matter how it's serviced.
That same altitude effect touches energy use. A commercial system working harder than it should to hit the same setpoint is a system burning more than it needs to, month after month, and that shows up on a utility bill long before it shows up as an obvious fault.
