Furnace, boiler, or heat pump

Heating

Heating Repair Services and Heating Installation Services for a town where a warm afternoon still ends in a cold night. Boilers, furnaces, heat pumps, custom energy controls and energy management systems, sized for this elevation rather than a chart written for lower ground.

Chapter 01

The first cold night tells you what a system is actually doing

Santa Fe's daytime highs and nighttime lows can sit forty degrees apart on the same clock, and the air itself carries less heat per cubic foot at 7,000 feet than it does anywhere near sea level. A furnace or a boiler that was sized off a generic chart is already working harder than it should before the first real cold snap even arrives, and that shows up as longer run times, a house that never quite catches up, and equipment that ages faster than the sticker on the side of it suggests it should.

Heating Repair Services start with a diagnosis, not a guess. We look for the early signs before they turn into a no-heat call, repair or replace the faulty component rather than the whole unit where that's the honest fix, and test the system afterward so you know it's actually performing, not just running. Heat pumps get their own attention here too. They behave differently at altitude than the brochure describes, and a technician who hasn't worked heat pumps at 7,000 feet will miss things one who has won't.

Boilers, furnaces and heat pumps, sized to the house in front of us

Heating Installation Services cover the full range we're asked for: Boilers, Furnaces, Heat pumps, Custom energy controls and Energy management systems. Which one is right depends on the house more than on any general rule. A radiant boiler system suits an older adobe home with in-floor loops already in place. A heat pump can make sense for a newer build with the electrical service to support it. A furnace stays the straightforward answer where there's already ductwork and no reason to change the approach.

We size to the property, the budget and the actual heat load, not to a square-footage rule of thumb that ignores wall mass, window count and elevation. That's the difference between a system that cycles constantly trying to keep up and one that runs a normal duty cycle and lasts as long as it's supposed to. Custom energy controls and energy management systems get added where they earn their keep, usually on larger or mixed-use properties where a single thermostat isn't managing the building well enough.

Chapter 03

Twenty years of this valley, and what it's taught us

Insight Mechanical has over 20 years of experience heating houses and small buildings across Santa Fe and Los Alamos counties, and the business has been established since 2007. Most of what we've learned in that time isn't in a training manual. It's things like which neighborhoods have older gas lines that need a second look before an install, or which heat pump lines actually hold up to a New Mexico winter instead of just a mild one.

Every install carries Two-Year Workmanship Warranties, and manufacturer warranties are available on top of that for new equipment. If something we installed doesn't behave the way it should, that's on us to make right, not on you to chase down. A free in-person estimate gets scheduled within two business days of your call, and it happens with someone standing in the actual room, not over the phone.

When a repair is the right call, and when it isn't

A furnace or boiler in the middle of its life is almost always worth repairing. One near the end of a realistic service life, especially one already showing more than one fault a season, is a different conversation, and we'll tell you plainly which side of that line your equipment sits on rather than push toward whichever answer is more expensive.

We install Mitsubishi Electric, Bosch, Daikin and Trane equipment, and financing is available through JB Financing and Synchrony if a full replacement is the honest recommendation. Nobody quotes a heating job over the phone here. We come look first.

Insight Mechanical installs and repairs boilers, furnaces and heat pumps across Santa Fe and Los Alamos counties. Two-Year Workmanship Warranties on everything we install. Manufacturer warranties available on new equipment. Call (505) 469-1421.

Boilers behave differently once you're above 6,500 feet

Combustion equipment burns less efficiently in thin air unless it's set up for the elevation, and a unit installed by a crew working off sea-level tables will run rich and short-cycle for years without anyone noticing why. We adjust for it on every install, and we check for it on every repair call, whether the boiler is ours or somebody else's.
